Advantages for the Environment
Many people believe that throwing food scraps and paper products into a landfill is harmless because they biodegrade. However, most people are surprised to learn that when these materials break down in a landfill, they become powerful contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, representing over 37% of all US greenhouse gas. Composting reduces the waste you send to the landfill exponentially. Composting feeds and improves the soil, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers.

Advantages for Schools and PTO's
Parent volunteer resources are extremely valuable. Composting and recycling programs in the lunchroom at school provide parent volunteers an opportunity to participate in meaningful, productive and educational ways and still be able to see their kids during their lunch hour. Since Kiddos lunch programs are so comprehensive, it frees up volunteers to impact real change by working with the students on the recycling and composting program in the lunchroom.
