Sometimes the smallest actions can lead to monumental changes. How a simple act of helping a restaurant deliver lunches turned into an unexpected journey of entrepreneurship and lessons learned.

In 2006 Kiddos founder Michelle Moses was navigating a series of life-altering challenges. After recovering from a serious illness and needing to reenter the workforce after 14 years as a stay-at-home mom, a simple but meaningful opportunity appeared: delivering lunches to her daughter's grammar school for a local restaurant. What seemed like a small job quickly became a lifeline at a pivotal moment.
Noticing the school principal was stretched thin, managing lunch orders, payments, and deliveries on her own. Michelle offered to help and became the bridge between restaurants and schools, and in doing so, her event planning background and fine tuned organizational skills kicked in. This simple act of assistance escalated into something much greater when a local park district camp came knocking. They were looking for a dependable restaurant-based lunch program and delivery service, a niche that was unfulfilled in 2008. Embracing the challenge, Michelle built what became the first restaurant-based school and camp lunch service, a model that did not exist before. The road was not always smooth. Each challenge taught the Kiddos team something new and pushed us to keep improving, rethinking and reshaping what school lunch could be. At its core, Kiddos remains committed to the original vision: breaking away from old ideas about school lunch, honoring the needs of kids, parents, schools and restaurants, and creating a lunch experience designed for real life, with room for everyone. Today, Kiddos delivers thousands of lunches to schools nationwide. Through this journey, we've realized even the smallest tasks can lead to unexpected opportunities. And when you can’t see the path in front of you, there is always a way forward. If you’re in search of a lunch program that prioritizes exceptional service and meeting the diverse needs of your families and school, we'd love to hear from you! |
